Northamptonshire Over 60s marched into the final of Spitfire National Over 60s Championship with a convincing 8 wicket victory against Essex.
The match followed a similar path to that of the quarter final. The Northamptonshire bowlers were given first use of the wicket and whilst they weren't destructive, they were extremely economical restricting Essex to 144 for 6 off their allotted overs.
Jenkins was the most successful bowler snaring 2-39 from his 9 overs. Edwards and Robinson were particularly miserly conceding just 29 runs between them in their 18 overs. Mark Surridge provided the most resistance for Essex falling one short of his half century.
Once the Northamptonshire opening pair of Swann and Thomas had put on 96 for the first wicket, the game was all but over. Thomas remained undefeated at the end on 80, seeing Northamptonshire coast to victory with more than 5 overs to spare.
The Over 60s now play Cheshire in the final at Oakham CC on Wednesday 26th September. The match commences at 12 noon and all support would be greatly appreciated!
