New sponsor of Northampton District U12 and U14’s

23rd July 2012

Northants Recreational Cricket (NRC) is delighted to announce that Alterum, who are based in Northampton and a Corporate Insurance and Risk Management consultancy, are a partner of NRC. The partnership will see Alterum’s logo appearing on the match day shirt of the Northampton District U12 and U14.

When asked why Alterum wanted to support Northants Cricket they replied “Northants Cricket has a fantastic record for developing junior cricket through its coaching programmes and development structures for male and female players both as individuals and as teams.”

“What has impressed me most about Northants Recreational cricket is that it is helping to take sport into every area of the local community, especially for involving disability groups.” David Newton, Alterum.

David would like to see the partnership result in “All children being encouraged, no matter who they are or their ability, to take part, enjoy and benefit from playing cricket.”

"It’s great that Northampton is the first of the four Districts to gain sponsorship for all three age groups I’m sure this demonstrates that businesses in the area recognise the hard work of the coaches and volunteers involved and the dividends it will pay for Northamptonshire cricket in the long-term." Richard Hudson, Northampton District Development Coach

A bit about district cricket:

Launched in 1999 District Cricket has become a key driver in the Northants Player Pathway with its full integration for the 2010 season.

Ian Lucas (CDM at that time) along with some key local drivers broke the County into four distinct Districts. There were seven Boroughs in the County at the time and they worked those seven into four by merging the Kettering and Corby areas to form Kettering & Corby District, Wellingborough and East Northants to form Wellingborough District (now referred to as East Northants District), Daventy and South Northants to form South Northants and Northampton maintaining its own individual status to become Northampton District.

Since the introduction of the Festival format there have been twenty four possible Festival Champions with South Northants leading the way with 10 Championships closely followed by Kettering & Corby with 8.
