News from John Hodges of the Groundsman's Association:-
"....This year's event has been arranged for Sunday 2nd September at Wollaston CC starting at 9 am. and finishing by 1.0 pm. There will be bacon butties and coffee on arrival.
Doctor Iain James, formerly of Cranfield University, will talk about the research into spiking and give details of the findings and recommendations.
Also David Bates of TTS has agreed to demonstrate fraize mowing which is a form of scarification to remove herbage and the surface is cleaned out of shallow rooting Pao annua and any thatch accumulations.
Additionally, for those interested, you will have an opportunity to look at Wollaston's new watering system and you won't be surprised to learn that to date it has not been used!
Finally there will be a Q&A session which I would suggest could include a discussion on the impact of many clubs' reduction of income on their proposals for post season renovations.
Could you please let me know as soon as possible if you or your club proposes to attend.
Look forward to hearing from you and best wishes....."
